Description:  In this 3-lesson set, we discuss the methods to obtain the perfect abdominal radiographs including lateral, right lateral urethral view and ventrodorsal views.  Time is spent discussing centering, positioning, and anatomical landmarks needed for ideal radiographs.  In addition, these lessons provide examples of ideal radiographs for reference.

Target audience: Technicians and veterinarians looking to improve their radiographic techniques 

Learning objectives:

1. Understand the positioning and anatomic landmarks for a lateral radiograph of the abdomen including collimation.
2. Understand the technique to obtain lateral radiographs of the urethra to look for urinary calculi.
3. Understand the landmarks and positioning for a ventrodorsal radiographic projection of the abdomen.
4. Discuss the use of troughs to help position for ventrodorsal projections
