This module looks at pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and outcomes of dental disease in rabbits, including:
Cause – generally multifactorial; diet, infection, trauma, genetic/breed disposition.
Signs – weight loss, anorexia, tooth overgrowth (incisors, molar and premolars), facial abscess, epiphora, dacryocystitis, exophthalmos.
Diagnosis: oral examination, radiography, computed tomography.
Treatment – dental crown reduction, tooth extraction, correction of diet.
Prognosis – depends on the severity of the case.
