This module looks at pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and outcomes of mycoplasma mastitis in cows, including:
Pathophysiology – contagious pathogen, milking is most likely period of transmission.
Diagnosis – difficult to diagnose and treat. Mycoplasma are often also implicated in a number of other disease in bovines.
Treatment – resistant to beta-lactams. Resistance of mycoplasma to a range of antibiotics.
Prevention – application of 5-point plan in conjunction with segregation.
